The overhand grip lat pulldown is an amazing exercise that if done right, has many benefits.

How you do them makes a huge difference in the results you see, good or bad. I’ll briefly go over some big common mistakes and some helpful cues...

Common mistakes I see:
.
❌ Ego lifting (too much weight)
❌ Shoulders roll forward.
❌ Using a lot of momentum (swinging or going to fast).
❌ Not squeezing elbows down as far as possible.
❌ Only focusing on concentric portion (pulling portion).
.
Top 5 cues:
.
✅ Lean back slightly and fully engage your core.
✅ Focus on pulling your elbows down (focus on the movement not the resistance).
✅ Keep your shoulders rolled back and down, and squeeze your shoulder blades together.
✅ Keep the bar travelling in a straight line directly to your upper chest.
✅ Slow down the eccentric portion (extending portion).

Next time your in the gym, lower the weight slightly and try these.
