Lateral training, and why is it a crucial part of athletic training...

When thinking about and breaking down how athletes move and perform inside their sport, most power movements occur along the frontal plane (laterally).

From a skating stride in hockey, to a crossover in basketball, or any defensive movement in virtually any sport requires you to be able to move powerfully and explosively laterally to be able to beat a defender, or keep from being beat.

Doing exercises like the one shown in this video builds that lateral power and strength that is so critically important to any athlete that wants to succeed.
